Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is a building belonging to the iron architecture. Its builder was Gustave Eiffel. This Parisian monument is the symbol of France and is visited a lot. It has a height of 300 meters, later extended with an antenna til 324 meters. It was built in just over two years. The Eiffel Tower served as a presentation to the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889. It was designed by Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier.

Alexandre Gustave Eiffel was born in 1832 and was a French civil engineer and architect. He graduated in the École centrale des arts et manufactures in Paris and became renowned for designing several bridges for the French rail network, which is especially noticeable the Garabit viaduct. His fame is due to the Eiffel Tower.
Iron architecture refers to a building technique and architectural style of the XIX century, resulted in the availability of new materials that occurred during the Industrial Revolution. In pre-industrial times there were sporadically iron constructions, and  evidence of construction of various Chinese iron pagodas in the Tang Dynasty in the IX century.

In conclusion, this monumental iron building, as well I have said before, is the symbol of France. I, personally, do not like iron architecture too much, but yet always the Eiffel Tower will be a special monument not only for me, but for the whole world.
It is in Paris, France.
